Why Proper Aftercare is Crucial
The aftercare is a very crucial part of getting perfectly healed brows. There is absolutely no sun exposure or tanning for 3-4 weeks after the procedure. Tanning will either dramatically lighten or darken your tattoo depending on your skin. You will need to wear a hat and sunglasses when you are outside during the scabbing phase. Then you can apply sunscreen in the area after the scabbing phase is over for the next 4-6 weeks until healing is complete. Swimming is also not allowed during the scabbing phase, as it could cause an infection or lead to poor results.
Wearing SPF
Once the flakes have fallen off your brows, it means your skin has grown over and sealed in the pigment. Your brows are healed! You may go back to your normal routine and apply SPF directly to your brows to protect them from fading. I use an SPF 35 or higher for my face.
Protecting Your Brows While Swimming
Chlorine and saltwater can lead to pigment fading so I learned a little life hack awhile ago that I’m going to share with you guys! Add a thin layer of Vaseline onto your brows before you go swimming, not only is this a cheap and easy brow lacquer look but it will create a barrier between your brows and the water which will protect them from fading. Alternatively you can just make sure to rinse the area clean so that your not letting the salt or chlorine water sit on your skin.
